2020年の時空が音楽に！ 岡野弘幹 X 地球暦
2017年より始まった太陽系時空間地図「地球暦」と岡野弘幹のコラボレーションも4年目。2020年は、激動の星回りであることを数年前から地球暦開発者である杉山開知氏よりお聞きしていました。
今作の作曲中である１月〜３月にかけては全世界で新型コロナウイルスが感染拡大していく厳しい状況。100年前の世界大恐慌の際にかなり近い星回りであることから、精一杯の愛を込めて製作いたしました。
地球暦音楽シリーズの [ The Time, Now ]のコンセプトについて少しだけ説明します。
３月２０日春分からの一年間を一曲で表現。8秒ごとにチリンとなるベルが１日なので、およそ50分で一年となります。新月・上弦・満月・下弦など朔弦望の音、二十四節気をもとにした自然音など人の心拍数や呼吸に近い速度で進行するように工夫されていて、聞くだけで地球号の動きを体感できる音のカレンダーなんです。
そして最も注目なのが、太陽系の惑星が太陽を中心に向かい合う会合時には、惑星が持つ固有の周波数が響き合う共鳴音が入っています。この周波数は実際にも降り注がれているもので、つまり１年間に私達が感じるであろう惑星周波数を先に体験できる仕組みです。太陽系は常に共鳴の中にある。そんな風にも言えるかもしれません。
今回のアルバムタイトルは『QUANTUM LEAP BREEZE 』これは「量子力学的な飛躍のそよ風」という意味です。
今回のコロナウィルスの最中、今までの枠組みでは進むことのできない問題が浮き彫りになってきました。同時に地球環境は改善の様子を見せているとも聞きます。
最近、インドのデリーからヒマラヤを望む写真を見ました。この大転機が地球に住まう全ての命にとって幸せへの飛躍となるよう心から祈りこのCDを送り出したいと思います。

太陽系の運行を壮大な譜面に見立てて1年を音像描写するという、これまでの音楽表現にないコンセプトである本シリーズにおいて、今回は2020年の時空感を見事に描ききったメモリアルな作品となった。
楽曲は1年間を1枚のCDに入るように時空を圧縮している。秒単位で暦要素を枠組みし、惑星の動きを追いかけながら宇宙の輪郭を音で浮き彫りにする作業は、まるで音楽を通じて未来を追体験するようなシャーマニックな体験のようだった。
本シリーズを手掛けた音楽家 岡野弘幹氏とは4作目のコラボレーションとなる。これまで岡野氏が収集した民族楽器はスタジオを埋め尽くすほど多岐にわたり、本作も全編にわたり作曲と演奏、サウンドデザインをしている。
今回はアイリッシュのフルート、ギリシャの弦楽器ブズーキ、そして多彩なアナログ・シンセサイザーが使われている。岡野氏が70年代から半世紀にかけて収集してきた機材をリペアし、これを機に蘇った貴重な音色は、デジタルサウンドだけでは表現できない時の奥行きを、実に美しく壮大に描いてくれた。
世界各地でフィールドレコーディングした環境音の中は、イタリア・フローレンスの鐘と、パリのノートルダムのそばにあるセーヌ川に浮かぶシテ島の教会の鐘の音がセレクトされている。自然災害やウイルスなどの厄災、政治や経済の緊張など、世界的な転換点となっている2020年だが、宇宙規模で地球人類がひとつの生命体として共鳴していく未来に希望を託し、本作品を送り出したいと思う。

HELIO COMPASS has collaborated with Hiroki Okano, Japan’s leading ambient music composer, to craft this unconventional series of musical pieces. Through this project, the one-year movement of the entire solar system has been rendered to a grand musical score. The 2020 version, the fourth collaboration with Okano, is such a memorable work, remarkably representing the phase of the present time and space. The entire composition features an arrangement of sounds every few seconds. Each and every sound perfectly coincides with this year’s astronomical events, such as the 24 seasonal divisions and the moon phases, as well as major seasonal points on the calendar. The process of tracing the movement of each planet and transforming it into musical expression can be described as a shamanic experience which makes the music resonate with the sense of time and space.
Okano himself worked on composing the entire soundtrack and playing all instruments, including the Irish flute, the Greek string instrument, bouzouki, and multiple analogue synthesizers. These are only a small part of Okano’s extensive collection of folk instruments which occupy almost his entire studio. In addition, Okano acquired some of these old instruments in the 1970s, repaired them and has cherished ever since. These vintage instruments sounded so beautiful that they amplified the effect of the complete composition to vividly express the depth of time, which could not be fully achieved digitally. Okano captured varied ambient sounds through field recordings across the world, including the sounds of bells resounding in Florence, Italy and those of a church located in Ile de la Cite, a tiny island in the Seine close to Notre-Dame, Paris.
From the beginning of the year 2020, we have been facing unprecedented challenges, such as natural disaster, the coronavirus crisis, and political and economical tensions. It is certain that these moments will be a major turning point globally. We are pleased to release this new musical piece, envisioning our new future in which humans will work in cooperation on this planet, in our universe.
